Domestic Goddess Orchids

Donna Bell-Cooke , Dale Roxanne McGraw, and Karen VanBourgondien met by chance during a visit to Donna's orchid boutique, Domestic Goddess Orchids. While discovering how much we shared in common, thoughts, ideas and dreams began flying back and forth. It didn't take very long to know other self-proclaimed "Plant Kooks" who shared the same visions.

With many years of orchid growing experience between the three of us, we came to the conclusion that by combining our resources, knowledge and talents, we could bring growth to Domestic Goddess Orchids. Teaming up would allow us the flexibility to take on new and diverse projects in the world of orchids.

Dale and I shared the excitement of our first Connecticut Orchid Society show in 2006 and won several ribbons between the two of us.

Our "Orchids as Ambassadors of the Rainforest" presentation to the fourth grade students of Witt Intermediate School was a big hit with the kids and teachers. And have been invited back to repeat our presentation again this spring of 2007.

Karen, Dale and I have worked with several interior designers and creating simple to elaborate, but always unique, orchid-scapes for the home and business.

Donna has been a hobby grower for over 10 Years, and has a degree in nursing, and strong background in Science.

Dale, has over 20 years experience, with her extensive and elaborate orchid collection, and is very proficient with her knowledge of nomenclature and plant identification.

Karen holds a degree in Floral Design from SUNY at Cobleskill, NY, and has worked In the Floral Design field since 1975.

Both of her Grand Fathers and Father were members of Connecticut Orchid Society, and Owners of CJ VanBourgondien Inc, Which was a Family owned wholesale green House in Long Island NY, in which Karen spent countless hours, from age 13 on, working in the family business.

We are dedicated to providing our customers with the finest quality New England grown orchids, many of which are award-winning hybrids. We are also very proud of our growing collection of unusual and obscure orchid species.

Our primary focus is to have fun growing and sharing our love of orchids and to educate others with our "keep it simple" philosophy.
